Reflection
This week was a great experience we got to visit multiple colleges, It really gave me a better perspective regarding what I like in a college and what I need in a college. It was nice seeing a private school because I did not really consider seeing a private school because of how much they cost, but after going I realized they offer plenty of scholarships. Also touring schools that aren’t really “big name” and learned what they had to offer, I learned that they are much better than big name schools because of what they offer.
I noticed that most schools we visited focused on majors that involve science, engineering, and architecture. Some differences were schools like UCSB focused on marine biology while Cal Poly SLO focused on agriculture, architecture, and engineering. Then Chapman University focused on Film/Video production and are just going to open an engineering school.
I realized that I do not mind being away from my parents as long as I can call them and check in with them.
I do not want to live really far away from home because I would not enjoy driving for hours just to get back home. I would like to be 3-4 hours away from home. I would like to go to a university that feels like a town because then I feel like I would have plenty to do and keep me busy when I have free time. Also, I feel like it would be easier to meet new people in a town like setting. I am going to do fine when it comes to taking care of myself because I am an independent person.
I am looking forward to taking classes that interest me. Also meeting new people who have similar thinking to me. Something else finally being able to express myself. I am concerned about not being able to afford it, and not being able to make friends. I want to go study abroad in London. It would be nice to join a Latinx Club or something has to do with latinx empowerment. Also UCSB mentioned a Latina sorority. I am really considering a UC, CSU, or maybe a private school.I am going to stay in state because I would miss my family too much because it would be more expensive to come back home.
